Rev Sara Feld

About pastor Sara Feld

Pastor Sara was born and raised in “beautiful Door County”, WI. She likes to tell people she lived in the best part of the county- the southern part, where the tourists only stop long enough to gas up their cars and grab some cheese curds.

Her love for rural ministry grew out of her own congregation in rural Sturgeon Bay. Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church was the place where her faith grew, theological questions were asked, and where she taught young children what faith looked like to her.

After decades of discernment, she made the decision to return to school and received her BA in religion and psychology from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. From there she continued her education at Wartburg Theological Seminary, also in Dubuque. During her time in Seminary, she completed her Clinical Pastoral Education (a chaplain education program) at Heartland Regional Medical Center (now Mosaic Life Care) in St. Joseph, MO and went on to complete a year’s internship at Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen, MI. It was her internship year and the guidance of her supervisor/mentor/friend, the late Rev. Betsy Kamphuis, that she realized her true call to rural ministry.

Pastor Sara received her Master of Divinity in May of 2017 and was ordained a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America at St. John’s Lutheran in St. Donatus, IA on May 30th of that same year. Her first call was to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Highmore/Sedgwick, SD. A girl from the land of water and trees fell in love with the prairie and the people.

When family health issues surfaced, Pastor Sara realized she needed to be closer to her family and in November of 2021 began her call at United Lutheran in Prairie Farm and in the summer of 2023, accepted a contract position to also be the pastor at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church north of Dallas, WI. While she was born and raised in NE Wisconsin, northwestern WI has been calling her more years than she can count as it is here where her mother lived (Chippewa Falls) and her parents met (UW-RF).

In her spare time, Pastor loves to spend her time with family/friends and her two dogs, Grace and Elliot, breath in the fresh air, listen to podcasts and audio books, travel, attend concerts, and for the last couple of years, added to her love of music by taking guitar lessons.
